Littleton Dolphins maintained their lead in Evesham & District Specsavers Division 2 with an 8-2 win against Littleton Giants and a 10-0 victory over Bengeworth Wolves. Simon Robinson of Dolphins won all his matches, including a 3-1 victory over Dave Bevington of Giants, one of his main rivals at the top of the Division 2 rankings.
JLM Sunrisers kept up the pressure on the leaders with a 7-3 win over Wyre Warriors and an 8-2 defeat of Littleton Jackson Five. Sunrisers are in second place; 14 points behind Dolphins but with 3 matches in hand. Kevin Taylor of Sunrisers became the first player this season to beat Stephen Glazzard of Warriors. Taylor lost the first set but battled back to win 11-9 in each of the next three.
Glazzard won the rest of his matches against Sunrisers and also managed 3 wins in Warriors’ 7-3 defeat to Littleton Bears. He remains the highest ranked player in the division with 19 wins from 20 played.
Wyre Barbedwyre are in 3rd place after wins against Littleton Jackson Five and Littleton Cobras. Mike Moore won 3 for Barbedwyre against Jackson Five, although he had to work hard to defeat Holly Bilsborrow, fighting back from 2-1 down to take a decisive 11-5 victory in the final set. Moore was beaten by Graham Briscombe during the 6-4 defeat of Cobras. Briscombe was on strong form for Cobras, winning his matches against Moore, John Buxton and Joan Parfitt all in straight sets.
Bengeworth Pandas moved up to 4th place, winning 6-4 against Littleton Bears and 7-3 against Littleton Giants. Both Margaret Dignum and Lynda Reid won 2 for Bengeworth against Bears and then combined to defeat Greg and Paul Bruner in the doubles. Paul Bruner won 3 for Bears. In the match against Littleton Giants, Dignum and Reid again picked up 2 wins each and won the doubles. Paul Gearey also won 2 for Bengeworth. Dave Bevington beat all 3 of the Bengeworth players, but it did not prevent the win for Bengeworth Pandas.
