Naomi wins the Bill Spry

John Shearman sends this report from the tournament played at Okehampton on Sun 1st Feb:

Naomi Jackson beat Pete Forrest in the final to win the Bill Spry Shield.

In the semis, Naomi Jackson won a hard fought match with team-mate Howard Back who had a 5 start, the result being 21-18, 21-17.

Pete Forrest bamboozled Jon Cheung in the other semi final with his spins and ended up winning 21-12, 21-11. Pete not needing his 4 start.

The final saw Naomi in strong form taking the ball very early from the bounce and not letting Pete get into his normal game. Playing off scratch she won in determined fashion 21-17, 21-14.

Overall a good day's table tennis with a lot of very close matches. Thanks to John Maguire for his help on the day, and all for supporting the event. (and thanks to John S for organizing - Steve)

PS Sportsmanship award to Pat Lyon for pointing out an error on the scoresheet in her favour.
