Full results available on request! Unfortunately, due to illness, a few of you were only able to play one of the final two sessions and had you been able to play both you may well have been winners or runners up. I did consider letting people play extra matches at a later date but we decided it would be too difficult to organise. So special congratulations to Marcus Lee and Sacha Edwards, who both won their relevant divisions this week but were unable to attend the previous session.

Medals will be presented at EDTTL Finals Night, Thursday 12 April at Coaver Club in County Hall, commencing at 7 pm.
A number of you have been asking about coaching in Exeter so I will be following this up with our league committee. A suitable venue appears to be the main problem.

Kind Regards

Penny

Update 20 Dec 2017

1) The 2017/2018 Exeter Junior Table Tennis Championships will take place on the afternoon of Saturday 17th March 2018 at Newton St Cyres Village Hall. The tournament will be played in groups, with a Consolation event as well to ensure everyone has plenty of games. The winner will be presented with our perpetual trophy, the Carlyon Cup donated by our Chairman, and there will also be a trophy for the best Under 12 player on the day.
Entry forms should be available in due course but meanwhile please make a note of the date and feel free to pass the information on to any other junior players who may be interested, whether or not they compete in our Junior League.

2) The other date to remember is Sunday 28 January, when Paul Whiting will be running a coaching morning at Exeter University Sports Hall. If your child would like to attend then please send me an email as soon as possible, if you have not already done so. Places are limited and are filling up fast.

3) The next session of Junior League is scheduled for Tuesday 23 January at ECFC, commencing at 5:45 pm. Winners from the last round of matches were:
Division One - Ollie Gould
Division Two - Ben Walker
Division Three - Joshua Blatchford
Division Four - Jaime Ferrer-Diez

Well done to all the winners and to everyone who competed.  Thank you as always to the hardworking volunteer umpires. I wish you all a very Happy Christmas.

Report 19 Oct 2017

22 young table tennis players between the ages of 7 and 17 all met up at Exeter City Football Club on Tuesday 10th October to compete in the first session of the new Individual Exeter Junior Table Tennis League.

The juniors were divided into four different divisions according to their age and estimated playing standard, with six players in each of the top two divisions and five in each of the lower divisions.

All matches were played in excellent spirit with some hard fought, close games and some very impressive play in all the divisions. A few helpful adults from the main Exeter League umpired the matches, with assistance from a couple of parents as well, while many others stayed throughout to watch their children competing.

With all play all within the divisions there were a lot of matches, but thanks to our volunteers we succeeded in completing all the games shortly before 8 pm with the following results:

Division One - winner Ollie Gould, runner up Marcus Lee

Division Two - winner Ethan Callard, runner up Marlon Blum

Division Three - winner Ben Walker, runner up Zac Kingdom

Division Four - winner Owen Gardiner, runners up Keira Callard and Joseph Edwards

Winners of all three lower divisions will be promoted for the next session, which is due to take place on 7th November. Well done to all the competitors and volunteers, and a special thank you to ECFC for use of the Park Room, an ideal venue.
