In Division One there was a first defeat of the season for Cwmbran Blues, in fact it was their first set back in 2 seasons. The Blues could not overcome the absence of their No. 2 player David Lloyd and went down 9-20 to Bristol Nomads. It was only a player of the match performance from Mark Farrow that prevented a heavier defeat, although the Nomads Roger Grech did take him to 5 sets. In the other match in Div. One Cwmbran Aztecs overcame Cwmbran Colts 20-12. As in the other match the player of the match, Lee Thomas, came from the defeated side. However it was the Aztecs who had the greater strength in depth with Mark Edmunds opening his account for the season with 2 wins. Despite their defeat Cwmbran Blues remain top of Div. One having played a game more than their rivals.

In Division Two early season player availability has been a problem for the Cwmbran Club secretary which is having an impact on early results. This week was no exception as last years champions Cwmbran Aztecs only had 2 players in their match with Blaenavon Bulldogs. Despite this the Aztecs managed to gain a close 17-15 win over the Bulldogs thanks to a player of the match performance from Alex Jones. The Aztecs are starting to fall behind the early pacesetters Cwmbran Panthers who maintained their 100% start to the season with a 25-6 win over Cwmbran Devils. The Panthers Mike Blatchford picked up his second player of the match performance. The final match in Div. Two saw Blaenavon Aces maintaining their challenge with a close 19-15 win over Cwmbran Eccentrics. This was despite resting their number one player Jon Allen (their manager said he was tired!!!) The Aces players Matthew Pearce, Ben Pearce and Ben Allen all had notable wins over Howard Gaut, although Howard was probably  tired having to play in 2 matches to overcome player absences. Once again as in other matches this week the player of the match, Lincoln Alford, came from the losing side.
