27th JANUARY 2015 MATCH REPORT

In Division One or the Eastern Valley Table Tennis League the top match was between the leaders Bristol Nomads and their closest challengers Cwmbran Blues. However, the result was not as close has had been anticipated with the Blues not being able to cover the unavailability of David LLoyd. The Nomads won 26 - 7 with both Mike Bishop and Chris Price recording good wins over Mark Farrow.

The other game in Division One saw a much closer match between Cwmbran Aztecs and Cwmbran Colts. Lee Thomas returned for the Colts but despite his player of the match efforts he could not prevent his side going down 17 - 18. The biggest cheer of the night was reserved for the Colts' John Spencer who recorded a good win over Andrew Ryder 3 - 2 in the final game.

As in Div. One the top 2 sides were playing each other in Division Two. Cwmbran Dynamos went into this match 7 points behind the leaders Cwmbran Panthers. Despite a player of the match performance from the Panthers' Mike Blatchford the Dynamos recorded a 20 - 11 win to go ahead of their rivals. It was a good overall team performance from the Dynamos with 2 wins each for Alex Jones, Alson Limbu and Will Smith-Haddon.

The new leaders of Division Two are Blaenavon Aces who took advantage of the top 2 sides knocking points off each other to gain a big win 26 - 8 over their club mates Blaenavon Bulldogs. There were maximum wins for the Aces Ben Pearce and Ben Allen. The highlight of this match was a good win for the Bulldogs' Bethany Brewer over the much higher ranked Mathew Pearce.

The other match in Division Two saw a comfortable win for Cwmbran Fellows 25 - 9 over Cwmbran Devils. The Fellows certainly benefitted from being able to call up Louis Price to cover a player unavailability. Price along with Wayne Ford recorded maximum wins although young Price was taken all the way by Stan Williams in an exciting 5 set match.
