8TH DECEMBER 2015 MATCH REPORTS

Once again this week only 2 matches were played in Division One due to player unavailability. However, the matches played did produce wins for the bottom 2 sides. Blaenavon Aces secured their first win of the season 22-11 over Cwmbran Aztecs. For the Aces there was a player of the match performance from Piotr Sniezek with his 3 wins. He was backed up by Jon Allen with 2 wins and 5 points from young Ben Allen including a good straight sets win over the higher ranked Andrew Ryder. The Aztecs were again missing their number one player Tony Collins for this match in losing their 5th match in a row.

Cwmbran Colts had a very good win over last seasons champions Bristol Nomads 17-15. Both sides were missing players but the difference proved to be the Colts guest player Claire Flannagan with her 3 wins and another player of the match award. For the Nomads there were 2 wins each for Ian Maggs and Keith Armstrong, but there was a disappointing performance from their guest player Ray Goulding with only I win. The highlight of this match was the win for the ex Welsh Doubles champion John Spencer over the higher ranked Goulding in 5 sets.

With over half the matches played the Division One title race is hotting up with the Nomads holding a 7 point lead over their closest challengers YMCA Preachers, which makes next weeks re-arranged match between the sides very interesting.

In Division Two there was a first defeat for the leaders Cwmbran Panthers by 17-19 to Cwmbran Fellows who were helped considerably by a player of the match performance from Alex Jones, guesting for the Fellows. Jones had 3 wins and was backed up by Wayne Ford with 2 wins and a very important 2 points gained by Haydn Skinner. The highlight of the match was Ford's first defeat of the season to the ever improving Yuri Cherkosenko.

As in Div. One there was a first win of the season for Cwmbran Eccentrics by 20-13 over Blaenavon Bulldogs. For the Eccentrics there was a very good win for player of the match Richard Lownsbough over the higher ranked Lincoln Alford.

The other match in Div. Two between Cwmbran Devils and Cwmbran Dynamos failed to finish in time and the one outstanding game will be played next week during the cup matches.
