24th MARCH 2015 MATCH REPORT

The winners of the Eastern Valley Table Tennis League Division One title  for 2014/15 are Bristol Nomads.  Therefore, congratulations to the Nomads squad of Ian Maggs, Keith Armstrong, Chris Price, Mike Bishop and Brian Reeves.

In their final match of the season the Nomads were held to a draw by YMCA 20 - 20. For YMCA there was a player of the match performance from Paul Booth who won his three matches.

The other match in Division One saw Cwmbran Blues virtually clinch the runner-up spot with a 20 - 11 win over Cwmbran Aztecs. Although the Blues are 1 point behind the Aztecs they still have one match to play on 14th April against Cwmbran Colts, which was postponed earlier in the season. In their latest match there was a player of the match performance from the Blues' Mark Farrow with his three wins closely followed by David Lloyd who also had three wins.

Going into this weeks matches in Division Two Cwmbran Panthers had a 14 point advantage over Cwmbran Dynamos having played a game more than their rivals. Therefore, the match between these two teams was always going to have a considerable bearing on the outcome of the title. The Panthers took a big step towards the title by beating the Dynamos 21 - 12 thanks to a player of the match performance from Mike Blatchford. He was well backed up by Yuri Cherkasenko with his 2 wins including an unexpected 3-0 win over Alson Limbu. The Panthers have one match remaining and the Dynamos have two matches to claw back the 23 points deficit.

Blaenavon Aces still hold hopes of the runner-up spot after their comfortable 26 - 9 win over Blaenavon Bulldogs, thanks to a player of the match performance from their guest player Stan Williams. However, there was a good win for the Bulldogs' Bethany Brewer over the higher ranked Matthew Pearce.

In the other match in Div. Two Cwmbran Fellows beat Cwmbran Devils 26 - 10, helped by a player of the match performance from Wayne Ford, closely followed by guest player Lincoln Alford who also registered 3 wins.
