After week 2 of the Eastern Valley Table Tennis League the new leaders of Division One are Cwmbran Colts who beat the previous leaders Cwmbran Blues 23-6. However, the Blues could only field 2 players for this match. For the Colts there was a very good win for player of the match Mathew Pearce in straight sets over Roger Grech. However, Grech did win his other 2 matches against Ben Pearce and John Thomas.

Moving into second place are the YMCA Preachers who won all their matches in a 27-7 win over Blaenavon Aces. However, the score line did not reflect the competitive nature of the match. The player of the match award was just edged by Preachers' David Lloyd over his teammates Ray Goulding and Claire Flannagan.

The final match in Division One saw Cwmbran Aztecs secure a 21-14 win over Bristol Nomads. For the Aztecs Tony Collins won all his matches to win the player of the match award. Collins was ably supported by Andrew Ryder and Mark Edmunds with two wins each. The Nomads had Bhargav Uday Chandra making his league debut and he proved a worthy opponent with his 2 wins.

The Division Two leaders and current title holders Cwmbran Panthers had a predictable win over Cwmbran Fellows 23-10. Once again the Panthers' Mike Blatchford was the player of the match with his 3 wins with only Wayne Ford providing any opposition. Blatchford was supported by Yuri Cherkasenko and Howard Gaut with their two wins each. For the Fellows, Ford won two matches.

Chasing the Panthers in this very early stage of the season are Cwmbran Devils who had a comfortable 25-5 win over the league newcomers North Gwent Cougars. The Devils provided the player of the match performance in Stan Williams with three wins, closely followed by Colin Scott who also had three wins. For the Cougars there was a good win for Iestyn Howells over the experienced Glenda Prytherch.

The other team chasing the leaders are Cwmbran Dynamos who gained a comfortable 25-7 win over Cwmbran Eccentrics. For the second week running the Dynamos had to borrow a player to fulfil their fixture. The Dynamos' Alex Jones gained the player of the match award with three wins, just edging team mate Richard Lownsbrough who also had maximum wins. They were well supported by the "borrowed player" Colin Scott with 2 wins who also had to play for his own team that evening. (I bet he slept well that night). For the Eccentrics Lincoln Alford fought well to provide 5 points for his team.
