Cwmbran Blues continue to lead Division One of the Eastern Valley Table Tennis League. In their latest match this week the Blues defeated Cwmbran Tigers 20-12. The Blues' Mark Farrow and Josef Sujanec won 2 matches each and David Lloyd 1 match. However, they were no match for the Tigers' guest player, Claire Flannagan who produced an inspired player of the match performance in winning all 3 of her matches. The Tigers' Jeraze Dhanbhoora also had a good win over David Lloyd.
Currently in second place are Blaenavon Aces who were held to a 18-18 draw by third placed Cwmbran Aztecs. It was the Aztecs who provided the player of the match in Tony Collins although he did suffer his first defeat of the season to Ben Allen. Also for the Aztecs, Mark Edmunds secured 2 wins. For the Aces both Jon and Ben Allen had 2 wins each and guest player John Thomas had 1 win.
The final match in Division One saw North Gwent Cougars win their first match of the season in their defeat of Cardiff Nomads 21-13. For the Cougars there 2 wins each for Sam Slatter, Laura Price and Rhys Fiddler, making his debut in the league. Despite being on the losing side the Nomads' Peter Gordon turned in a player of the match performance with his 3 wins.
In Division Two, Cwmbran Dynamos took advantage of previous leaders Cwmbran Lions having a bye week to go top following a 19-12 win over Cwmbran Panthers. For the Dynamos, both Alex Jones and Will Smith-Haddon had 2 wins each and Richard Lownsbrough 1 win. However, they were no match for player of the match the Panthers' guest player Haydn Skinner, with 3 wins. The Panthers Howard Gaut secured 1 win.
Moving into second place are Cwmbran Eccentrics following their comfortable 24-6 win over Cwmbran Fellows. Despite having to also play a match in Division One, the Eccentrics' John Thomas still found the strength to put in a player of the match performance with his 3 wins. Thomas was well supported by Ian Shipley, also with 3 wins and Lincoln Alford with 2 wins. For the Fellows, Wayne Ford secured their only win.
The final match in Division Two saw Cwmbran Devils secure their first win of the season with an emphatic 27-1 win over North Gwent Terriers. Player of the match was the Devils' Colin Scott with maximum wins and he was well supported by Stan Williams and Finley McNeil, also with maximum wins. For the Terriers, Joel Price scored their only point.
