12th November 2019 Match Reports

After this weeks matches in Division One of the Eastern Valley Table Tennis League, Blaenavon Aces retained their top spot. In their latest match the Aces overcame Cardiff Nomads 21-16 with the aid of a player of the match performance from guest player Andrew Ryder with 3 wins. Ryder was well supported by another guest player, Colin Price, with his 2 wins and Iestyn Howells with 1 win. For the Nomads, Peter Gordon battled well for his 2 wins and 8 team points and Geoff Strangeway had 1 win.

In second place with a game in hand over the leaders are Cwmbran Aztecs following their close 20-17 win over Cwmbran Preachers. Player of the match was the Aztec's Tony Collins with 3 wins and he was well supported by Mark Edmunds, also with 3 hard fought wins all going to deciding games. For the Preachers there were single wins for Ray Goulding, Dave Lloyd and Claire Flannagan.

Cwmbran Blues drop down to third place as they had a bye week.

The final match in Division One saw Cwmbran Tigers move off bottom place with a 22-11 win over North Gwent Cougars. Player of the match was the Tigers' Roshan Rai with 3 wins and he was well supported by Michal Luckanic with 2 wins and Jane Reeks with 1 win. For the Cougars, Sam Slatter had 2 wins and Laura Price 1 win.

In Division Two, Cwmbran Eccentrics took advantage of the previous leaders, Cwmbran Dynamos having a bye week to go top of the Division with a hard fought 21-17 win over third placed Cwmbran Lions. The Eccentrics achieved their win despite winning only 4 matches, but lost 4 of the remaining matches in the deciding games. The Lions had the consolation of providing the player of the match in Nigel Gore with 3 wins and he was well supported by Haydn Skinner with 2 wins.

Fourth placed Cwmbran Fellows just lost out to Cwmbran Devils 15-16, despite providing the player of the match in Wayne Ford with 3 wins. There was also a win for the Fellows' Jacob Wicks. For the Devils there were 2 wins each for Colin Scott and Finley McNeil and a win for Stan Williams.

The final match in the division saw Cwmbran Panthers defeat North Gwent Terriers 27-4 with the player of the match being Mick Mellor with 3 wins. He was well supported by Howard Gaut and Damian Luckanic, also with 3 wins. For the Terriers Joel Price fought hard for his 2 team points.
