The Eastern Valley Table Tennis League is now a third of the way through the season with every team in both Divisions having played each once.
Leaders of Division One are Cwmbran Aztecs following their 24-10 win over Cwmbran Blues. Player of the match was the Aztecs' Tony Collins with his 3 maximum wins and he was well supported by Mark Edmunds, also with 3 wins and Andrew Ryder with 2 wins. For the Blues Jozef Sujanec picked up his teams solitary win.
Second place is held by Blaenavon Aces who had a bye this week.
In third place are Cwmbran Preachers after their 27-5 win over North Gwent Cougars with Eric Turner picking up the player of the match with 3 wins in his first outing this season. There were also 3 wins each for Ray Goulding and guest player Mark Edmunds. For the Cougars Michal Pollicht was the only player able to offer any resistance with 5 team points.
The final match in Division One saw Cardiff Nomads defeat Cwmbran Tigers 25-6 with Geoff Strangeway picking up the player of the match award with 3 wins. He was well supported by Peter Gordon, also with 3 wins and Abid Khan with 2 wins.
The leaders of Division Two are Cwmbran Eccentrics following a very close 19-18 win over second placed Cwmbran Dynamos. For the second week running the Eccentrics achieved their win despite only winning 4 of the 9 matches with Ian Shipley picking up 2 wins and John Thomas and Lincoln Alford 1 win each. Despite losing the match the Dynamos provided the player of the match in Alex Jones with 3 wins. Richard Lownsbrough picked up a good win over John Thomas and there was also a win for Will Haddon-Smith.
In third place are Cwmbran Lions following their 27-2 win over North Gwent Terriers. Player of the match was the Lions' Nigel Gore with 3 wins and he was well supported by John Williams and Haydn Skinner, also with 3 wins each. The Terriers' Joel Price fought hard for his 2 team points.
The final match in the division saw Cwmbran Panthers defeat Cwmbran Devils 23-10. Player of the match was the Panthers' Howard Gaut with 3 wins and he was well supported by Yuri Cherkasenko, also with 3 wins and Mick Mellor with 1 win. For the Devils, Stan Williams and Finley McNeil collected a win each.
