3rd December 2019 Match Reports

 This weeks matches in Division One of the Eastern Valley Table Tennis League saw Cwmbran Aztecs move to the top of the division. In their latest match the Aztecs defeated North Gwent Cougars 27-6 with Tony Collins picking up the player of the match award with his 3 wins. Collins was well supported by Mark Edmunds and Andrew Ryder, also with maximum wins. For the Cougars, Sam Slatter battled hard for his 4 team points.

Dropping back to second place are Cwmbran Preachers, following their 14-17 defeat by third placed Blaenavon Aces. For the Aces Jon Allen and guest player Tony Collins picked up 2 wins each and Iestyn Howells 1 win. Despite their defeat, the Preachers did provide the player of the match in Dave Lloyd with his 3 wins including inflicting a rare defeat on Tony Collins. 

The final match in Division One saw Cwmbran Blues beat Cardiff Nomads 24-9 with David Lloyd collecting the player of the match award. Lloyd was well supported by Jozef Sujanec, also with maximum wins and Colin Price with 1 win and 6 team points. 

In Division Two Cwmbran Dynamos extended their lead at the top with a 27-3 win over Cwmbran Devils. For the Dynamos Alex Jones picked up the player of the match award with his 3 wins and he was well supported by Richard Lownsbrough and Will Smith-Haddon, also with 3 wins. For the Devils Stan Williams battled hard for his 3 team points.

Moving into second place are Cwmbran Eccentrics, who also have a game in hand on the leaders. This week the Eccentrics defeated North Gwent Terriers 23-7 with John Thomas the player of the match. Thomas was well supported by Ian Shipley with 2 wins and 8 team points and Lincoln Alford with 2 wins.  For the Terriers there was 1 very good win for Tommy Woodland over the higher ranked Ian Shipley and a win for guest player Howard Gaut.

Cwmbran Lions drop down to third place despite their 21-12 win over Cwmbran Fellows. Player of the match was the Dynamos' Nigel Gore with maximum wins and he was well supported by Haydn Skinner and John Williams with 2 wins each. For the Fellows, Wayne Ford picked up 2 wins and 8 team points and Finley McNeil 4 team Points.
