 After this weeks matches in Division One of the Eastern Valley Table Tennis League we have new leaders in Cwmbran Blues. However, they have now completed their matches and Cwmbran Aztecs are only seven points behind with two matches still to play. In their latest match the Blues defeated YMCA Preachers 24-13 with David D Lloyd picking up the player of the match award with his three wins. Lloyd was well supported by Josef Sujanec, also with three wins and Mark Farrow with one win. For the Preachers Ray Goulding picked up one win and Claire Flannagan had a good win over Farrow.

The other match in Division One, Cwmbran Tigers and Cardiff Nomads could not be separated and drew 19-19. Player of the match was the Nomads Mike Bishop with three wins and teammate Peter Gordon had a good win over the higher ranked Roshan Rai. For the Tigers Jeraze Dhanbhoora and Michal Luckanic collected two wins each and Rai picked up one win.

The race for the Division Two title is still looking likely to be decided in the final matches of the season between Cwmbran Eccentrics, who had a bye this week and North Gwent Cougars. However, the challenge of the Cougars took a blow when they suffered only their second defeat of the season when losing 18-19 to Cwmbran Panthers. There were some notable performances from the Panthers team with Yuri Cherkasenko picking up the player of the match award. Included in Cherkasenko's two wins was the scalp of the higher ranked Sam Slatter. He was well supported by Howard Gaut with two wins, including a success over the higher ranked Michel Policht. The Panthers' Sunam Rai also had a good win over the higher ranked Slatter. For the Cougars, Policht picked up two wins and Slatter and Jon Deacon one win each.

Still in third place in the division are Cwmbran Dynamos and in their latest match defeated Cwmbran Devils 25-8. Despite their defeat one of their players, Stan Williams, produced the performance of the night when he defeated the highly ranked Alex Jones in five sets. Player of the match was the Dynamos guest player, Lincoln Alford with three wins. He was well supported by Alex Jones and Will Smith-Haddon with two wins each. For the Devils, Williams picked up two wins.

The final match in division two saw Cwmbran Lions beat Cwmbran Fellows 25-8. Player of the match was guest player John Thomas with three wins including a good win over Wayne Ford. Thomas was well supported by another guest player Hoaward Gaut with two wins. For the Fellows Ford picked up two wins and there were wins each for Peter Teichner and Mick Mellor.
