Greetland Social A took a huge stride towards back-to-back titles following a 7-2 victory over main rivals Red Press.
The leagues two top sides had all to play for going into the match, but it was Greetland who triumphed as the trio of James Foster, Alex and Matthew Shaw prevailed. It was a case of what could have been for Red Press as they lost four five setters. However, Greetland's trio put in a strong performance to warrant the result.
Alex Shaw gave Greetland the lead with a narrow 3-2 win over Steve Hanson before Sean Ellis squeezed past James Foster deuce in the fifth in what was an entertaining game. Matthew Shaw comfortably dispatched of Seb Frere before the game was level again, Ellis defeating Alex Shaw 3-0. Alex's older brother Matthew put Greetland ahead with a 3-0 win over Steve Hanson, before, crucially, Foster defeated Frere in five nail-biting ends.
Matthew secured the win for Greetland as he avenged his semi-final Closed Championships defeat with a 3-0 win over Ellis, before Foster and Alex gained crucial sets with five end wins over Hanson and Frere respectively.
Greetland Social B appear all but safe as their staggering revival continued with a 7-2 win over YMEN. Garry Jowett and Gilly Broadbent claimed two apiece whilst stand in Matthew Shaw won all three. It means Greetland's destiny is now in their own hands as they hold a cushion over Grasshoppers, who defeated Tradesmen 6-3. Adrian Walker returned to the fold and picked up victory over Mark Knapton.
BT ended their campaign with a 5-4 defeat to Central. Already relegated, BT came close to securing their second win of the season, with Mick Reddy ending his season on a high with a fantastic win over Fraser Riley. Whilst Mick and Lyndon Harris both went onto win two apiece, Central's Riley and Mushtaq Ahmed did likewise, with Eric Greenwood securing victory with a win over Gary Taylor.
Hermits registered their first win in three matches following a 5-4 victory over YMEN. Stand-in Keith Skarz was the star of the show as he secured three valuable wins from Hermits, with Paul McKrieth's brace of victories securing victory. Shamir Bose picked up two victories for YMEN.
An appearance from former Halifax champion Martin Bowers inspired Panthers to a 6-3 victory over Warriors. Bowers, alongside youngster Ben Fillingham, won three apiece to leapfrog Panthers above Warriors in the table.
Division 2
Hotshots completed their pursuit of the Division 2 title following a 9-0 demolition of Evergreens. The team have been utterly dominant throughout the season and secured the title in emphatic fashion, with Ollie Hill, Steve Marshall and Jonny Heslop winning three apiece.
Central 2, who have pushed Hotshots so valiantly over the course of the season, look set to finish second following their 8-1 victory over Ovenden Sports. Despite Saj Mohammed picking up a credible win over Steve Thomas, Central's Shaun Forbes and Paul Dean won three apiece, with Thomas winning his other two matches.
Tribal 1's strong end to the season continued as they defeated Dolphins 7-2. Michael Bush and Josh Hill were particularly impressive as they picked up three wins each, with Carey Baggott chipping in with a victory of his own over Denise Scott.
Oakland Raiders' five game unbeaten run was given a major scare before they clawed their way past Team G. James Dawber's outstanding treble, including victory over David Whiteley, which was just a second defeat in 24 matches for Whiteley, looked to have given the relegation-battling Team G the chance at an unlikely victory. However, Whiteley recovered with two victories, as did Stephen Horrocks, before Matthew Horrocks defeated Jordan Barkas to secure victory.
Rams ended a run of two defeats with a 7-2 win over Keighley Nomads. Dave Melbourne and Neil Dawson won three apiece whilst Darrell Mann registered one to secure an impressive victory.
