Lewis and Wood fly the flag in HASSRA championships

Dave Lewis and Jacqui Wood took their table tennis abilities to a national stage as they competed in The Health and Social Security Recreation Association (HASSRA) National Table Tennis Championships.

Both players qualified for the Yorkshire region after an event at Halifax Table Tennis Centre in March. Ian Teale, from Wakefield won the eliminators, whilst Glyn Normanton was runner-up and Dave came in third. However, Dave was called up after Normanton was unable to attend. Jackie also qualified for the women's event.

The day was a massive success, with Dave and his partner Ian Teale winning the doubles event to secure a big victory for the region.

Meanwhile Dave also managed to progress through his singles groups, before losing in the first round 3-1. Meanwhile, Jackie got through two rounds before being defeated in the quarters.
