Ken Barker, organiser of the Staveley Table Tennis Marathon, came round to see me last night.
1. The date for the 2017 event is now fixed for 18/19 November at Staveley Village Hall.
2. I'm enclosing a copy of his paperwork detailing monies raised over the past 17 years. It's a remarkable achievement, £6,500 last year and just over £90,500 in 17 years.
3. It leaves £9,500 to raise in order to break the £100,000 barrier.
I wonder if w can start putting something out on the HTTA Website - I'm going to ask YTTA, and Leeds as well. It really is incredible and Ken is in his mid eighties and still going strong.
I promised I would help this year both in terms of playing non stop for 24 hours and raising the money.
Ken has agreed that HTTA can always specify which charities we would require funds raised by HTTA players to go to, should we be unhappy with his choices. He is inundated with requests for funding and spreads it around local, regional, national and international charities.
I'm open to any ideas, offers of support etc
All the best
