Two teams involved in the relegation dogfight met in the Hastings & District Table Tennis League Division One when Saints B entertained Tackleway B. With Martin Richards in Ireland, Tackleway called up Kevin McEwan from Division 2, who responded with a straight-sets maximum. Adrian Goodrum was also unbeaten for the visitors who ran out 8-2 winners.
Tackleway A are slipping off the pace at the top of the table and they lost 8-2 to Hollington A for whom Paul Barry was again unbeaten. Barry was supported by 2 wins each for Andy Furnival and Stacey Furnival, while John Wilson scored both Tackleway wins.
Hollington D seem to have overcome their poor start in Division 2 and they gained their second successive win since the acquisition of Shaun Godfrey, beating Monarchs 9-1, with Godfrey and Sue Adamson winning 3 and Steph Sargent 2.
Bexhill D were held 5-5 at Tigers B with all Tigers’ successes being in 5 sets. Ryan Warner won 3 for Bexhill and Chris Woods won 2 for Tigers – all Woods’ games were 5 sets, decided by a 2 point margin.
In a top-of-the-table clash in Division 3, Saints E put some distance between themselves and Bexhill F with a resounding 8-2 win. A maximum from Claire Bridges and 2 wins from Derek Brown and Pete Lambert left Bexhill with only Barry Goodson’s 2 wins as consolation.
The young Tigers E notched their first win, beating Willett & Phillips 6-4 with Adam Mabb unbeaten and 2 wins from Joshua Bennett.
