Division 2 in the Hastings & District Table Tennis League is turning into a gripping struggle for promotion. Tackleway C lost their place at the top when they were held

5-5 by Tackleway F, with Danny Rickaby and Kevin Rowe (C team) and Keith Lindsay and Kevin McEwan (F team) all winning 2 games. Rickaby excelled to beat McEwan in straight sets, only to lose to Lindsay in 5. 

New leaders are Bexhill E, who beat Tackleway D 8-2 with Brian Beaney maintaining his unbeaten record and 2 wins each for Trevor Towner and Cameron Jones. The match could have been much closer as Bexhill took all three games which went to 5 sets.

Saints D also eased above Tackleway C with a  6-4 win over Tackleway E in which Barrie Fletcher’s maximum proved crucial. Kevin Bignell won 2 games for Tackleway.

Maximums from Bradley and Ryan Heselden saw Hollington E home 6-4 against Monarchs.

 

In Division 3, Saints F just had the edge over Hollington H,  winning 6-4. Neil Pankhurst won 3 and Dave Power 2 for Saints, with Ryan Demeza picking up 2 for Hollington.

The closest match of the week saw Tigers D and Bexhill G fight out a 5-5 draw. Phil Talbot and Andy Holmes won 2 apiece for Tigers but Ricky Knight’s maximum earned Bexhill a share of the points.

Phil Bailey and Ken McEwan were unbeaten as Willett & Phillips beat Hollington G 7-3.
