Leaders Bexhill A cruised to a 9-1 win over bottom side Tackleway C in Division 1 of the Hastings & District Table Tennis League, when Rob Warner and Bob Lowe were unbeaten. Tina Beaney also won two for Bexhill while her loss to Andy Brown put Tackleway on the scoreboard.

Tigers A and Tackleway B fought out a 5-5 draw in which Tackleway’s Martin Richards won his three games, including a win over Chris Woods at 15-13 in the 5th. Woods, playing up from Tigers B, was his team’s best performer with two wins.

Saints B beat a below-strength Bexhill B 7-3 with a maximum for Ron Davenport.

Andy Syrett, after a 5-year break won two games, as did John Ellis for the losers.

In Division 2, two promoted teams met and Saints D, who won last year’s Division 3 by a distance, would have expected to beat Bexhill G after two 8-2 successes last year. Despite three wins for Saints’ Claire Bridges and two for Peter Lambert, Bexhill hung on for a draw helped by two wins from Barry Goodson and a critical doubles win.

The clash between two unbeaten teams saw Bexhill D gain a decisive 8-2 victory over Tackleway D, with a Brian Beaney maximum and two wins for John Bradbury and Trevor Towner.

The stamina of Chris Woods was put to the test as his maximum led Tigers B to a 6-4 defeat of Saints C, while also playing in a First Division match on the adjacent table.

Roger Smith chipped in with two wins for Tigers.

David Tran’s maximum helped Tigers D to a 5-5 draw with Tackleway G in Division 3. Kevin Eastman and Douglas Bick both won twice for Tackleway.

Monarchs recorded their fourth win from four when Peter Harding and Andrew Edwards were unbeaten in their 7-3 win over Hollington C.

Despite their impressive start, Monarchs are still three points adrift of Bexhill F who beat Hollington B 8-2 with maximums from Harvey Webb and Malcolm Glover.

Willett & Phillips beat Saints E 8-2 with three wins each for Phil Bailey and Ken McEwan and two for Sue Clarke.
