Tackleway C secured the Second Division title in the Hastings & District Table Tennis League in the last week of the regular season with an 8-2 win over stablemates Tackleway F. James Gorridge was unbeaten for the champions while Danny Rickaby and Kevin Rowe won 2, as did Kevin McEwan for the F side.

This result effectively put first place beyond Bexhill E who played 24 hours later and made their 6-4 defeat of Tackleway D academic. Brian Beaney won 3 and John Bradbury 2 for Bexhill.

Bexhill D finished third and ended their campaign with a 5-5 draw at NALGO A in which Ryan Warner’s maximum confirmed his place at the top of the averages. Paul Hyland won 2 for NALGO, who may even have won if Mike Courtnage had not gone down 16-18 in the 5th to Paul Welford.

In Division 1, Hollington confirmed second place with an 8-2 defeat of Bexhill B. Paul Barry was unbeaten and Nathan Darby and Andy Furnival won 2 each for Hollington, while Andy Summers had 2 good wins for Bexhill, including one at 13-11 in the fifth over Furnival.

Last year’s Division 2 champions Saints B face relegation after a 10-0 loss to Hollington C left them too much to do in their outstanding matches. Scott Bills, Nick Standen and Will Goodstone did the damage for Hollington.

The two teams just above Saints B clashed when Tackleway B edged past Tigers A 6-4 with Adrian Goodrum unbeaten and 2 wins from Martin Richards. Dave Mitchell picked up 2 wins for Tigers.

Saints A gained some confidence for their Watts Cup campaign with an emphatic 9-1 win at Bexhill C with Ritchie Venner and James Winchester winning 3 and Dave Butler 2.

Bexhill F will be runners-up in Division 3 after they beat Tigers E 7-3. For Bexhill, Barry Goodson, Diddley Goodson and Roger Gillett all won 2, while Adam Mabb had 2 good wins for Tigers.

Bexhill D beat Tigers D 8-2 with maximums for Malcolm Glover and Ricky Knight
