Having slumped to the foot of the table, Tackleway B reacted well to take a surprise point from a 3-7 defeat to high-flying Hollington Academy A in Division 1 of the Hastings & District Table Tennis League. Tackleway had taken a 2-0 lead through Martin Richards and a win at 15-13 in the decider for Adrian Goodrum over Bashir Obeyed before the Academics took control with Paul Barry unbeaten and Obeyed and Andy Furnival winning two each. Tackleway clinched the point when Richards and Goodrum took the doubles in another long five-game set.

Bexhill A also dropped a point in their 6-4 win over Bexhill C where they needed maximums from Rob Warner and Lewis Mayhew to secure victory.

Bexhill B had an emphatic 9-1 win over Tigers A in which Andy Summers and John Ellis were unbeaten and Yotza Krstic won two games.

Hollington Academy B had a 9-1 win at Tackleway A with Rose Rainton and Jamie Martin unbeaten and Robin Gibbs winning two.

 

Bexhill D maintained their comfortable lead in Division 2 with a 7-3 win which ended Bexhill E’s run of victories. Brian Beaney won three games for the leaders and Trevor Towner two, as did Konrad Pieterse for the E team.

Tackleway D are also on a roll, and this continued with an 8-2 win over Saints D in which Sue Pingram was unbeaten and Alan Blackman and Owen Hatter won two each while Barrie Fletcher won two for Saints.

Tigers B and Tackleway F drew 5-5 when Chris Woods (Tigers) and Peter Wilson and Danny Kildea (Tackleway) all won two games.

 

In Division 3, Hollington D kept in touch with the leaders with a 6-4 win at Willett & Phillips with a maximum from Kieran Gibbs and two wins for Ryan Demeza while Sue Clarke won two for the losers.

Hollington C ensured McPhersons are still looking for their first win with a 6-4 win despite Peter Watters’ maximum for the losers.  Bradley Britt, Kevin Long and Keith Young all won two for Hollington.
