The Hollington club put in another good shift and will provide both finalists in the Hastings & District Table Tennis League Team Handicap Event.

The first semi-final was a close affair before Hollington A beat NALGO A 6-3 with a maximum for Ryan Demeza and two wins for Kieran Gibbs.

Demeza gave Hollington the start they need when, receiving nine points start, he beat NALGO danger man Paul Hyland in straight games. From this point, sets were shared before NALGO’s Mike Courtnage beat Amelia Long (+6) 21-19, 21-19 to level things at 3-3.

From this point, Hollington took over, with Gibbs beating Tristan Hyland (+7) in three games and Long (+9) beating Paul Hyland, also in three games to give Hollington the win. With the match won, Demeza (+5) sealed things with a win over Courtnage at 23-21 in the third.

Hollington B had a more comfortable win, beating Monarchs 8-1 with Adam Akar and Yasar Akar unbeaten and Bradley Britt winning twice.

In an all Third Division clash, there were some high handicaps given away and Monarchs did well to be as competitive as they were.

Dave Turnbull took Monarch’s consolation in set three, beating Britt (+10) 21-19 in the third.

Peter Harding conceded 12 points to Britt and took the first game before fading in the third while Alison Jordan went to three twice despite giving away double figures each time.

In the closest match up on handicaps, Yasar Akar (+2) beat Turnbull 21-9, 21-10.
