Hollington Academy A continue to set the pace in Division One of the Hastings & District Table Tennis League with an 8-2 defeat of rivals Saints A in which Paul Barry and Nathan Darby were unbeaten. After five weeks of the season, the Academics have established a four point lead and have played and beaten their three major rivals.
Bexhill A beat Bexhill G 8-2 with three wins for Rob Warner and two each from Ryan Warner and David Rayment. The G side were unable to build on Cameron Jones’ opening set win apart from a late, and excellent, win for Ryan Heselden over Rayment.
Hollington Academy C had a comfortable 9-1 win at Tackleway C when Fraser Kent and Nick Standen were unbeaten and Scott Bills won twice.
In Division Two, Tigers A were just knocked off the top spot when Dave Wilson’s maximum helped Tackleway E to a 5-5 draw. Peter Wilson won two for Tackleway as did Chris Woods for Tigers.
Bexhill E now lead by one set after their 6-4 win over Bexhill F where they had a maximum for Tina Beaney and two for Pam Winter while Harvey Webb took two for the losers.
Another Bexhill derby saw Bexhill D and Bexhill H fight out a 5-5 draw. Alan Chumbley was unbeaten for the H team, while brother Dave won twice on his Hastings debut. Brian Beaney won two for the D side.
Tackleway D continued their good start with a 9-1 win over Hollington B with three wins for Owen Hatter and Alan Blackman and two for Keith Lindsay. Amelia Long prevented the clean sweep with a fine win over Lindsay.
Tackleway F took the lead in Division Three after an emphatic 9-1 win over third-placed Saints C with maximums from Kevin Eastman and Kevin Bignell and two from Steve Milton.
NALGO B moved off the foot of the table with a 6-4 win at Hollington C despite a maximum from the home side’s Pete Shoesmith. For NALGO, there were two wins each from Eric Cruttenden and Richard Sugar, his first in the league.
Tackleway G came from 3-4 down to win 6-4 at Monarchs B with Zac Allen unbeaten and two from Keith Young while Peter Harding won two for Monarchs.
