Hollington Academy C have struggled to field a team so far in the Hastings & District Table Tennis League Division One but have signed thirteen-year-old Arthur Bracken as cover. There was to be no fairy tale ending as Bracken made his debut against league leaders Saints A who had Dave Butler and James Winchester unbeaten in an

8-2 win, but the youngster had an excellent win over John Wond from 0-2 down, in his first ever encounter with a hard bat.

Hollington Academy B have made a stuttering start to the season but they led Bexhill B 5-1 before edging home 6-4 with a maximum from Tony Catt and two from Rose Rainton. John Ellis won two for the losers, including a fine win over Rainton.

Andy Chapman and John Wilson were unbeaten for Bexhill C as they beat Bexhill D 7-3.

Bexhill E are off the pace at the foot of the table and they lost again, 8-2 to Tackleway B who had Roger Pingram and Sue Pingram unbeaten.

Bexhill A got back to winning ways with an 8-2 defeat of Hollington Academy D with Rob Warner winning three and two each from David Rayment and Ryan Warner.

Andy Furnival had two good wins for the losers.


In Division Two, Monarchs A and Tigers A fought out a 5-5 draw with Bob Lowe getting a maximum for Monarchs and Chris Woods winning two for Tigers.

Most of the sets were clear cut but Tigers won both which went the distance, including a doubles win at 15-13 in the fifth.

Bexhill G won 6-4 at Nalgo A when Paul Hyland’s maximum for the home team was beaten by two wins apiece for Bexhill’s John Bradbury, Brian Beaney and Pete Robinson.

Bexhill H beat Bexhill F 9-1 with three wins for Chris Hack and Brian Busbridge and two for Dan Starnes. Frank Brown’s consolation win for the F team included a 23-21 fourth game win in a five-setter with Starnes.


Saints C went top of Division Three with a 7-3 win over Monarchs B. Andy Murphy won three and Dave Watters two for Saints while Peter Harding won two for Monarchs.
