In the Hastings & District Table Tennis League, Division One, Saints A still lead, despite dropping a point in a 7-3 win over Bexhill C with a James Winchester maximum and two wins from Dave Butler. Graham Gillett won two for Bexhill after ending Butler’s winning run in five games but was unable to repeat the feat against Winchester who survived a scare in his opening game against Bexhill reserve Chris Hack, who had a match point in the decider.

Hollington Academy A won 8-2 at Bexhill D with Paul Barry and Bashar Ubaid unbeaten and Ryan Heselden winning twice but losing out to former team-mate Kevin McEwan.

Bexhill A also won 8-2 against Hollington Academy C, with maximums from Robert Warner and David Rayment. Bexhill took eight sets on the trot, losing the first and last sets of the match.

 

At the top of Division Two, Tackleway C lost ground when held 5-5 by Tackleway D.

Alan Blackman was unbeaten and Keith Lindsay won two for the D side while Danny Rickaby won two for the C team. Lindsay’s brace included a win over Adrian Goodrum at 16-14 in the fifth which kept his team in the match.

Saints B took advantage to go top with a 7-3 defeat of Nalgo A with three wins each for Ron Davenport and Jamie Martin, both beating Paul Hyland in the process.

Tackleway E had a hard-fought 5-5 draw with Bexhill F when Mike Charter won three and Zac Allen two for Tackleway and Harvey Webb two for Bexhill. Five sets went the distance, all with tight finishes in the decider.

Another close contest saw Bexhill G and Tigers A draw 5-5 in a match where Tigers led 3-0 and trailed 3-4.  Chris Woods and Dave Mitchell both won two for Tigers as did Brian Beaney for Bexhill.

 

An Andy Holmes maximum and two from Chris Floyd led Tigers B to a 6-4 win over Willett & Phillips for whom Phil Bailey won twice.

Tackleway G edged past Nalgo B 6-4 with Keith Lindsay unbeaten and Mike Cruttenden winning two. Ron Spencer picked up two for Nalgo.
