Match of the week in Division Two of the Hastings & District Table Tennis League came in the clash of the two bottom teams when backmarkers Hollington B won 6-4 at Monarchs A. Ryan Demeza and Keiran Gibbs both won two for Hollington as did Alison Jordan and Sue Paice for Monarchs. Despite this, Hollington still trail winless Monarchs by five points although they do have two games in hand.

At the other end of the table, Tigers A (Chris Woods, Dave Mitchell, Roger Smith) moved further ahead with a 10-0 win over under strength Bexhill F,

Bexhill E lost ground despite a 7-3 win over Bexhill H when Pam Winter, Tina Beaney and Paul Welford all won two for the winners while reserve Chris Hack had a fine maximum for the H side.

In a similar scenario, Kevin Barry’s maximum for Hollington Academy D was not enough to stop the 7-3 win for Tackleway D for whom Keith Lindsay, Owen Hatter and Alan Blackman all won twice.

Paul Hyland’s maximum for Nalgo A helped his side snatch a draw at Bexhill D who had two wins each for John Bradbury and Brian Beaney.

Hollington A’s Shaun Godfrey was another to be unbeaten in a losing cause as his team went down 7-3 to Tackleway E who had two wins each from Dave Wilson, Peter Wilson and Phil Toze.

Third Division leaders Bexhill I lost crucial points as they were held 5-5 by Willett & Phillips, despite three wins from thirteen year-old Tom Nguyen on his debut. Phil Bailey and Sue Clarke won two each for W&P.

A 10-0 win for Tackleway F (Steve Milton, Kevin Eastman and Doug Bick) over Nalgo B leaves them only a point adrift with a game in hand.

Hollington E also gained ground with a 9-1 win at Tigers B when Rob Clemence and Neil Pankhurst were unbeaten and Trevor Fountain won two.

Monarchs B and Saints C drew 5-5 with Peter Harding winning three and Dave Turnbull two for Monarchs while Andy Murphy won two for Saints
