Bexhill A regained the Watts Cup, the senior Hastings & District Table Tennis League knockout competition, beating Hollington Academy B 5-1 in a well attended final at the Bexhill club.

Both sides were at full strength with Bexhill represented by Lewis Mayhew, Rob Warner and David Rayment and Rose Rainton, Tony Catt and Sam Collins turning out for Academy.

The Academics drew first blood when Sussex Mixed Doubles champions Rainton and Catt beat Warner and Rayment in four games before Bexhill took control of the final.

Former Hastings champion Mayhew  won 3-1 but was pushed until the last game by Sam Collins.

Rayment had an excellent straight games win over Rainton, who was a little unlucky not to get on the scoresheet. Mayhew beat Catt and Warner beat Collins, both in four games to leave Bexhill 4-1 ahead.

A 5-1 victory was accomplished when Mayhew and Warner beat Rainton and Collins 3-0.

Bexhill had reached the final with a semi-final defeat of holders, favourites and Division One champions Hollington Academy A.

Trophies were presented by League President Mick Hart.
