Some hotly contested matches in Division Two of  the Hastings & District Table Tennis League left four teams level on points at the top of the table.

Hastings Academy E lead on sets after beating Hastings Academy H 6-4 with two wins each from Graham Deeprose, Terry Dean and Chelsea Britt, making her season’s debut.  Jamie Martin was unbeaten for the H side who were level at 4-4 before fading.

The only unbeaten side in the division are Nalgo A who edged out Bexhill F 6-4 with another Paul Hyland maximum and two for Mike Courtnage. Dan Starnes won two for Bexhill and Courtnage took the deciding set, beating Frank Brown in five after trailing 1-2.

Andy Brown’s maximum was decisive for Tackleway E as they scraped past Tackleway D 6-4, with Alan Blackman and Keith Lindsay both winning twice for the losers.

In Division One, Academy D continued their good start with an 8-2 defeat of Academy F when Nick Standen and Andrew Martin were unbeaten. After trailing 0-6, the F side nearly stole a point only for Standen to hold his nerve at 12-10 in the fifth against Mick Hart.

Paul Barry and Ryan Heselden both won three times for Academy A as they beat Academy C 8-2.

Bexhill A beat Bexhill B 9-1 to snatch the lead from Academy A by a solitary set.

Bexhill A had maximums from new signing Anthony Sidoli and Ryan Warner and two from Tina Beaney, although Warner twice had to come from 1-2 down to win.

Monarchs B and Tackleway F share the lead in Division Three after both won 9-1.

Monarchs won at Hollington D with Peter Harding and Andrew Edwards unbeaten and Dave Turnbull winning two.

Tackleway F’s win against Tackleway G came courtesy of  three wins for Steve Milton and Peter Saunders and two for Brian Leggett.
