Snow played havoc with fixtures in the Hastings & District Table Tennis League with half of the matches called off, but in truth it was the amber warnings from the Met Office which caused the postponements rather than physical manifestations of the white stuff.

In Division One, the highest rated team in action were fourth-placed Hollington Academy B and they lived up to this with a 10-0 thumping for Tackleway A. Robin Gibbs, Rose Rainton and Tony Catt all enjoyed maximums.

Bexhill C climbed above Bexhill B in the table when Graham Gillett and John Wilson were unbeaten in an 8-2 win. All ten sets were decided in straight games and, with two tables in use, it was all over before any snow was sighted.

Hollington Academy D had maximums from Andy Furnival and Stacey Furnival as they beat Bexhill E 7-3.

With Second Division leaders Saints B out of action, Hollington A took their chance to go top with an 8-2 win at Bexhill H.  Shaun Godfrey and Kevin Barry were unbeaten for Hollington against two-man Bexhill.

Tackleway C beat Monarchs A 7-3 with three wins for Danny Rickaby and two each from Kevin Rowe and Adrian Goodrum while Bob Lowe won twice for Monarchs.

The only draw of the week came when Tackleway D met Tackleway E as Owen Hatter was unbeaten and Alan Blackman (both D team) won two and Mike Charter won two for the E side.

Tigers A took the last two sets to beat Bexhill F 6-4. Dave Mitchell won three and Roger Smith two for the winners while Harvey Webb took two for Bexhill.

Nalgo A also won 6-4, against Hollington B after leading 6-2. Paul Hyland had another maximum for Nalgo and Rob Clemence won twice for Hollington.

In Division Three, Hollington E, in third place had an excellent 7-3 win over the team one place above them, Hollington C.  Yasar Akar and Tristan Hyland were both unbeaten for the E team youngsters.

Phil Bailey and Ken McEwan both notched straight games maximums as Willett & Phillips won 7-3 at Hollington D.
