Saints B, unexpectedly and controversially demoted from Division One of the Hastings & District Table Tennis League, responded in the best possible way by taking the Second Division title from the strongest field in this division for years.
Ron Davenport and Jamie Martin had outstanding seasons, with back up from Mick Hart, Andre Keen and Andy Syrett.
Hollington A’s recruitment of Kevin Barry to join Shaun Godfrey made them serious contenders but, with Steph Sargeant injured until December, they eventually finished second, five points adrift. Remarkably, both teams finished the season unbeaten.
Two former First Division teams finished, off the pace in third and fourth with Tackleway C taking third thanks to their all-round strength with Dan Rickaby their best performer.
Bexhill G were fourth, tailing off in the second half of the season after being dogged by injury and forced to use eight players over the season. John Bradbury was their most consistent player.
Bexhill H and Tackleway E finished in the relegation slots, despite Mike Charter achieving 66% for the latter.
Two teams who finished in a mid-table comfort zone owed this to their number ones Paul Hyland (Nalgo A) and Bob Lowe (Monarchs A).
The individual averages were well contested, headed by Godfrey (95%), Davenport (94%) and Barry (93%).
Lowe (88%), Martin (86%) and Hyland (81%) also had fine seasons.
Saints C made it a double for the club by winning Division Three in style, winning every game and dropping a mere six points.
Their squad of Dave Watters, Andy Murphy, Paulette Clarke and Danny Gurden finished seventeen points clear with Watters, recruited from Hollington Academy, top of the averages with 96% .
Hollington C (Keith Young, Mick Oakman and Pete Shoesmith) took second place by a point from Tackleway F who used nine players over the season with Peter Saunders ending on 87%.
Behind Watters in the averages were Keith Lindsay (Tackleway F) (94%), Paulette Clarke (94%), Bryan Tichband (Tigers B) (93%) Dom Goodson (Bexhill I) (89%).
Thomas Porter (Tackleway G) was the youngest player at 11.
