Match Report - Week 2 - October 11th 2017
Premier Division


With teams well balanced matches will be close this season.

Runners up last season Hang Em High go top following a 6-4 win over Ping Panthers.
For Hang Em High it was two wins all round for Andrew Sharland, Graham Carter and Michael Bridger, but no player defeated Pings Marc Burman who was in a determined mood following his shock defeat last week by Junior Champion Keigo Burnham.

For Ping Panthers three for Marc and a doubles win for Lynne Trussell and Marc Burman over Andrew Sharland and Michael Bridger. Special Mention for Pings fourteen year old John Strang playing against the premiers top players. John went to four sets with Andrew Sharland and Graham Carter and lost 18-20 in the third against Michael Bridger. 

Assassins defeated a strong Dynamos team 7-3 with majority of games to four and five sets, Keigo Burnham three, Charlie Hough Two and Ben Worley one with the doubles going to Keigo and Charlie over Dynamos Matt Caddy and Dennis Hayden. Dynamos with  a win apiece for Dennis Hayden, Matt Caddy and Richard Cosens. Richards win was a five setter over Charlie Hough.

Bullets came away 7-3 winners in a tough four and five setter win over Game Changers. Two apiece for David Champneys, Joel Del Santos and John Burnham. Together John Burnham and David Champneys took the doubles. For Game Changers their star player was Jim Skinner the only player with a treble.


Division One

Leaders Thunderbolts and second placed Dark Horses are both on eight points with only sets wins dividing them. Thunderbolts against Spin Masters came away 10-0 winners  with many games going to four and five sets. Trebles all around for Jim Griffin, Vincent L’Estrange and Andy Steel. Jim and Andy also won the doubles.

Dark Horses again with matches going to four and five sets defeated Bashers 7-3. Two apiece for Ross Knowlson, Viv Cole and Steve Ive with Steve and Viv winning the doubles. For Bashers team star of the night was John Bridger with three wins.

New team St Andrews with some familiar faces from past seasons had an 8-2, Max points win over X Men. Trebles for Terry Dean and Stuart Vincent with one win for Darius Mathew. Terry and Vincent combined to win the doubles. For X Men a win each for Peter Caddy and Tom Christophersen 


Division Two

Magiks just down from division one are leaders of the division and give intent to go back up as soon as possible.

This week they won 10-0 over Cutting Edge with trebles from Tony Turk, Mel Sims and Alistair Blue. Magiks also won the doubles. For Cutting Edge it must be said that two of the team are two of the youngest players in the league Freddie and Oscar Wiseman. Oscar the youngest took a set of senior player Alistair Blue. The County will be looking at Oscar as a future player.

A first maximum points win over Smashing Pumpkins for the all girl team of Swifts. This win takes them into second place. It was trebles apiece for Alanna Blair and Emily Dunsby with Georgie Hough chipping in with one. Alanna and Emily also won the doubles to give Swifts maximum points. For Smashing Pumpkins Olly and Simon Howard won one game each. Final score 8-2 to Swifts

Burning Rubbers defeated Blade Runners 9-1 trebles from all players Steve Lee, Blake Davis and Gavin Pitts. For Blade Runners a very good doubles win for Annick Lieutaud and Malcolm Norwood over Steve Lee and Gavin Pitts avoided the dreaded whitewash.

Dangermen went down 8-2 to Pingwins with trebles from Adam Wiseman and Paul Lewis and two from Rupert Browning. For Dangermen a singles win for Colin Cooper who also partnered Ron Bailham to win the doubles.
