Week 5 Match Report

Premier  Division

With match number five over TT Legend have work to do to make up ground over leaders, Horsham Spinners.
Spinners showed their strength in defeating Dynamos Dennis Hayden, Richard Cosens and Richard Caddy 9-0, Although Richard Cosens took both Lynne Trussell and Gary Wilson to five sets. Horsham Spinners trio of Lynne Trussell, Gary Wilson and Rory Scott all had three wins apiece.

With seven out of the nine games going to four and five sets TT Legend had their work cut out to defeat Crawley Knights 5-4. It was a back in form Brendon Bennett with three wins and Glyn Hydes with two wins who saved the day. For Crawley Knights Fawzi Yousif was in good form taking Branden Bennett to five and defeating both Glyn Hydes and Stuart Vincent, Mina Matta and Josef Krakovsky both won one each. 

Hang Em High needed this 6-3 win over Ping Panthers to move to half way up the table. Together with Crawley Knights they both have a game in hand. For Hang Em High Michael Bridger, Graham Carter and Ben Worley won two games each. For Ping Panthers Edward Harvey won two and Steve Ive defeated Michael Bridger 11-6 in the fifth to register an impressive first win this season in the division.

The final match was Divergents vs Crawley Community with a 9-0 win for the strong Divergents lineup of Dan Pound, Emma Torkington and Sally Hughes over Brett Holt, Minesh Aginhotri and last minute unofficial stand in Onkare Singh. Both Brett and Minesh fought well with Brett taking a set off Sally and Minesh taking sets off Dan and Emma.

 

Conference Division

King Pongs defeated the seasoned veterans of Magiks, Mel Sims, Muriel Brewer and Alistair Blue 7-2. For King Pongs leaders of this division, it was a treble apiece for Darius Mayhew and Jacob Allonby with one win (her first win) for Junior Holly Cole. Magiks struggled but played well with one each for Mel Sims and Alistair Blue. Their senior veteran Muriel Brewer gave as good as she got after fifty years playing in this league.

X Men move up the table to second place in this division just two points away from the leaders. They defeated New Avengers Prevesh Ramnath, Robert Goff and Luke Goff 8-1. It was three for Angus Ogg and Robert Hoare with a well fought two (both five setter games).

A 6-3 win for Spinderella’s over Blade Runners who paid the price of being a player short. Two wins and a walk over for John Bridger, One win and a walker for Kate Bridger plus one walker for Karin Kunrath. Blade Runners Jennifer Watkins had two wins and Keith Johnson had one.

Thunderbolts defeated Pingwins in a close tough game 5-4. For Thunderbolts David Metcalfe with two, Andy Steel also with two and Samantha Stoner with the important one.
Pingwins David Polhill and Dan Polhill were the winners for their team. Pingwins are only three points behind the leaders.
