Table Tennis Report Week Two

Premier Division

Into the second week of the new season and the Premier has ten players on 100% with Rory Scott and Brandon Bennett leading the mens and Letitia McMullan and Emma Torkington leading the ladies.

TT Legend move into the lead following their 9-0 win over Dynamos. England ladies number 15 Letitia McMullan led the way for TT Legend with a treble as did Brandon Bennett and Stuart Vincent. Defeated team Dynamos with Matthew Caddy, Richard Caddy and Richard Cosens played well but were no match for Legends.

Horsham Spinners are in second place just one point behind Legends. Spinners Rory Scott with three wins, Gary Wilson with two and Lynne Trussell with one came away 6-3 winners over Divergents Emma Torkington (2) and Sally Hughes (1).

Hang Em High with Andrew Sharland and Graham Carter on three wins and Ben Worley on two, defeated Crawley Community 8-1. Minesh Agnihotri was the saviour for Crawley Community by defeating Ben Worley for their only win.

Crawley Knights Fawzi Yousif with a treble and Josef Krakovsky with two helped the Knights to a 5-4 win over Ping Panthers. For Panthers it was two for Ed Harvey, one for Sasha O’Halloran and one for Jeff Triggs. 


Conference Division

Junior players Dan Polhill and Oscar Wiseman lead the junior players in this league. While Pingwins top of division one with X Men close behind.

As with the premier it is great to see numbers of ladies and girls coming over to join the table tennis league.
This week’s matches saw Pingwins lead the table following a 6-3 win over King Pongs. Pingwins Dan Polhill stays top of div one averages with three wins, David Polhill with two wins and Rupert Browning with one. For King Pongs Jacob Allonby won two with Darius Mayhew winning one. Third player Holly Cole a junior played very well losing  one of her games  in the fifth set.

A very exiting match saw Spinderella’s defeating New Avengers 7-2. For Spinderella’s Viv Cole was in good form winning three singles, leaving sisters Annabel and Kate Bridger to win two apiece. Luke Goff was the only winner for New Avengers winning two while team mates Robert Goff and Prevesh Ramnath went down in four and five set games.
 
Another hard-fought game saw the X Men defeat Magiks 5-4. X Men’s Angus Ogg and Peter Caddy were on form for X Men with two wins each, while Colin Cooper clinched the win with one win. 
For Magiks two for Mel Sims plus one each for Alistair Blue and Kevin Deacon.

Blade Runners Had a very good win in defeating seasoned senior team Thunderbolts 5-4. Young Oscar Wiseman was the star for Blades winning all three singles with team mate Jennifer Watkins winning two. Thunderbolts Andy Steel with two wins and Jim Griffin and Matthew Power winning one each.
