As the League nears the one third stage of the season, the divisions are starting to take shape, whilst next week sees the start of the Wren Cup, the League's Handicap competition.
In Division 1, last season's new entrants, St. Michael's, are currently sitting at the top of the table - albeit both Crown & Sceptre 1st and Adeyfield 1st are within striking distance. St. Michael's, who went through last season in Division 2 winning all of their matches, have been held to three draws in the top division, but still remain unbeaten. Second and third placed teams, Crown & Sceptre 1st and Adeyfield 1st, are also unbeaten, as the top three teams have all drawn against each other, leaving things very interesting, whilst Crown & Sceptre A are also not far behind.
Division 2 sees Flamstead A as early leaders, although Crown & Sceptre B are not far back, with games in hand. The division remains very open, though, with every team having lost at least once, and both McAlpine teams, Kings Langley Cricket Club 1st and Crown & Sceptre C could well be challenging for the top positions, as the season continues.
Division 3 appears to be a case of who can compete with St. George's 1st, who have won their opening six matches, all in convincing fashion. Adeyfield C are not too far behind, whilst Flamstead C are still unbeaten, but have not played as many matches.
Regarding players, I am happy to report that every single player who has actually played in any matches, has renewed (or started) their Table Tennis England Individual Membership, so thanks to everyone for ensuring your TT fees are up to date.
