The League schedule has just passed the two thirds point, and this week sees the Cup & Plate Quarter Finals take place - maybe with some of the twelve postponed matches being played?
League positions are getting nearer to the final positions, with some clear leads established, but still a few places up for grabs, with division 2 proving to be the closest division overall.
Division 1 - Adeyfield 1st remain the only 100% team in the League, and have carved out a big lead over their rivals, with Flamstead 1st effectively second, ahead of regular title contenders, Crown & Sceptre 1st, followed by a strong showing from promoted St. George's 1st, then Adeyfield A. At the other end of the table, although Row look destined to drop back down to D2, it is neck and neck just above them, between Northchurch 1st and Crown & Sceptre A, and the destiny of the second relegation spot could go all the way!
Division 2 - This division has been close all season, and although Crown & Sceptre B and Flamstead A set the early pace, Adeyfield B have moved up, and recently just moved top, whilst Adeyfield C and McAlpine have also been showing very strongly in recent weeks, and it could still be any two from these five teams that end up contesting the two promotion spots? At the foot of the table, it is close between Crown & Sceptre C and Northchurch A, both a little way behind St. George's A.
Division 3 - Flamstead C remain well clear in D3, although they lost their 100% record last week, as Adeyfield D held them to a draw. Leverstock Green are hanging on to second spot, although Highfield and Northchurch C are not far behind, whilst Flamstead B have games in hand (results awaited), so could well still challenge for promotion. There is also a great battle on at the foot of the table, with Northchurch B and Crown & Sceptre absolutely neck and neck, with the final set of matches still to go, both some way behind Adeyfield D.
Meanwhile, good luck to all teams still involved in the Wren Cup and Wren Plate, as well as some of those postponed matches are hopefully being re-arranged, soon!?
The League schedule will also be interrupted by the annual Closed Championships, which takes place over the end of February and early March, so get your Entry Forms in (details also up on the website), and hope to see many of you at the events.
PS: Happy Chinese New Year (of the Pig).
PPS: Keep (or start) sending in Match Reports, and if you've not tried writing one yet, why not give it a go!?
