HEREFORD COUNTY MATCH REPORT 2
COUNTY TABLE TENNIS RESULTS on 1-2 Nov 2014- Veteran Division 4C

Hereford 1st travelled to the Kingfisher Table Tennis Club in Reading, Berkshire to play their first set of fixtures over the weekend, with an overnight stay. The team was represented by Dave White, Andy Castle, Nigel Foreshew and Pauline Hart.

The morning started off against Kent 4th with Dave White kicking off losing in 3 sets, 2 at deuce.  Andy Castle stepped up next to win in 3 comfortable sets to level the score at 1-1.  Nigel made it 2-1 with a victory in 4 sets. The match drew level at 2-2 with Dave and Pauline Hart losing the first mixed doubles in 3 sets, 1st at deuce.  Andy made it 3-3, losing the 1st at deuce before settling in to comfortably win the next 3.  Andy and Nigel lost the men's doubles in 3 sets, 3rd at deuce, to trail at 3-4.  Nigel pulled the match level at 4-4, winning in 3 sets.  Dave won his 2nd singles in 4 sets to lead 5-4, but the opposition won the final mixed doubles match in 4 sets against Andy and Pauline to finish the match level at 5-5, with both teams picking up a point each.

Scores: Nigel Foreshew 11-3, 11-8, 11-7 and 10-11, 11-5, 11-3, 11-6. Andy Castle 6-11, 11-3, 11-9, 11-7 and 11-8, 11-8, 11-6.

In the 2nd match against Hertfordshire 5th Dave lost the 1st, but then won the next 3 to lead 1-0.  Nigel made it 2-0 with a win in 5 sets where he had to come back after trailing twice.  The lead was reduced to 2-1 after Andy lost in 3 sets.  Dave and Pauline won the 1st mixed doubles in 3 sets to increase the lead to 3-1, followed by Nigel to increase the lead to 4-1, winning his 2nd singles in 4 sets. 
Pauline lost her singles in 3 sets,  2nd at deuce for the score at 4-2.  Andy and Nigel lost the men's doubles in 4 sets for the lead to reduce to a single game of 4-3.   Andy won his 2nd singles in 4 sets to increase the lead to 5-3.  Dave lost in 3 sets for the single game difference again at 5-4.  Andy and Pauline won the match by winning the 2nd mixed doubles in 3 sets for the final score of a win at 6-4.  The team pick up 2 points for the win for a total of 3 points.

For the 3rd match on Sunday morning against Berkshire 5th Andy started off with a loss in very close 5 sets to trail 0-1.  Nigel won his in 3 sets to make it 1-1.  Dave’s 1st singles also went to 5 sets, but this time a victory at deuce in the 5th sets to lead 2-1. Dave and Pauline lost the 1st mixed doubles in close 4 sets for 2-2.  Andy won his 2nd singles in 3 sets to lead 3-2.  Pauline lost her singles in 3 sets for 3-3. 
Andy and Nigel won their 1st men's doubles of the weekend in 3 sets to lead once again 4-3.  Nigel increased the lead to 5-3 with a win in 4 sets.  Dave made sure of the win by winning his final singles in 3 sets, 2 at deuce for 6-3.  Nigel and Pauline lost the 2nd and final mixed doubles in 3 sets, 2nd at a very long deuce for the final score of a 6-4 win.  With another 2 points the team finish with 5 out of possible 6 points.  Their final double fixture is scheduled for 21/03/2015.
