BISHOPS HEREFORD SCHOOL TEAM REPORT

BHBS TABLE TENNIS

On Saturday 21st March the BHBS table tennis team travelled to Bournemouth for the Regional finals of the English Schools Table Tennis Association team event after qualifying in the zone final at Wood Green.

We played two exceptional teams and lost 7-1 to Howard School, Gillingham.  Kyle Day won the only game against their number 4.  Jake Price gave a fantastic effort losing in 3 close games to their number 1, Ben Foster, who is ranked 10th in England.  Harry Hales and Matt Jones also played very well in their matches.

We then played an even stronger team from London.  All 4 of their players were ranked in the top 100 in the country and they beat us 8-0 overall, without us picking up a set.

Despite the results the boys all played very well and really enjoyed the competition.  They did exceptionally well to reach this stage; only the best 16 teams in the country play in the regional finals.  I believe this is the first time a school from Herefordshire has ever qualified for the Regional finals of the English Schools Table Tennis Association team event.
