Kyle Day at East Midlands 4 star Table Tennis
Hereford League table tennis player Kyle Day recently competed at the East Midlands 4 star tournament in Wellingborough. This is the highest level of open national tournament in England for Cadets and Juniors.
In the Cadet Band 1 Kyle qualified from his group before getting knocked out by the Welsh no.4 Louie Evans in the QF.
In the Open Cadets Kyle, who was seeded third of four players in his group, came second after beating Chamika Weerasinghe (England no.23) and Charlie Ollerenshaw 3-0. He lost to Naphong Boonyprapa (England no.13).
In the next round he beat Ricardo Bolanos (England no.39) 3-0.
His reward was a round of 16 match with the England no.3 Ethan Walsh. After a fantastic start Kyle went 6-1 ahead. As you would expect from a player of this level Walsh came back very strongly winning 11-9, 11-8 and 11-9. Kyle played really well, pushed his opponent all the way and was very close in all 3 sets.
Kyle is currently ranked no.64 in England at Cadets (u15).
