Cat “F” struggled to compete with GW”C” in their recent match going down by 3 sets to 7. Rob Webster (GWC) won his three with Phil Wood (CATF) taking two for the home side. Spare a thought for Steve Burrage (CATF), he did not win a set but took two of his opponents to five games and one to four games, losing most by the odd point, a hard day at the office without any reward.
Queen’s “B” continue to impress with a very good win over Hit’n’Hope by 8 sets to 2. Both Chris Sherwin and Tony Nixon took maximums for the Barwell side, to maintain their lead at the top of the table.
The young players of G Ward “D” came close to a draw against Cat “E”. Both Alex Downes and Alan Hills (CAT) won three apiece. Oliver Wynne (GW”D”) took a game from both before succumbing.
G Ward”E” had a good win over the consistent RE Studios 2 by 6 sets to 4. Dave Richardson (GWE) won his three and he was well backed up by Edward Brown with 2 wins and Frankie Hallam with 1.
RE Studios fared little better in their next match when they came up against league leaders Queen’s “B” who were giving nothing away taking the match by 8 sets to 2. Nixon and Sherwin both again collecting three wins each.
Hit’n’Hope proved too good for G Ward “D” winning by 7 sets to 3 despite the inclusion of Roger Hill, in the G Ward team for the first time who won his three
Barlestone “C” showed no mercy to Cat E winning by 9 sets to1. Will Baggott and Alex Westerby both undefeated.
Finally there was a close encounter at Barwell when G Ward C took on their own E team. No fewer than five sets went to either 4 or 5 games. Dave Richardson continued his undefeated run taking another maximum for the “E” team... Rob Webster and Rob Pickersgill took two each for GWC as they finally ran out winners by 6 sets to 4.
Currently Queen’s B lead the table with surprise package G Ward E in second spot closely followed by Hit’n’Hope and RE Studios2.
