George Ward E go top of Division 2

Division Two

G Ward “E” continue their good form taking a well-earned with over one of  their close rivals Hit “n” Hope by 7 sets to 3. Both Callum Dale and Dave Richardson (GWE) were unbeaten. In their next match, came up against the club-mates G Ward “D” in a long awaited clash. Both Roger Hill and Dave Richardson stood down for this match allowing the six young players to battle it out. The “E” team had too much fire power with both Frankie Hallam and Edward Brown collecting maximums.  The final score was 9 sets to 1 in favour of the “E”. Oliver Wynne collecting the one for GW”D”.

Barlestone “C” overcame G Ward “D” by 7 sets to 3. Roger Hill (GWD) taking three. In their next fixture Barlestone went down to a loss to Cat “F” 3sets to 7. Eddie Kwok (Cat “F”) proved too good for to young Barlestone players.

Cat “F” could not overcome RE Studios 2 losing by 3 sets to 7. The match between the two Cat teams “E” and “G” ended in a win for Cat “E” by 7 sets to 3.

Queen’s B favourites to take the title overcame Cat “E” by 8 sets to 2. Chris Sherwin (Queens) collecting a maximum whilst Alex Downes took two for Cat “E”,

G  Ward “C” defeated Cat “G” by 10 sets to nil, and in their next fixture had a very good win over RE Studios 2 by 6 sets to 4. Bob Pickersgill (GDC) lost the first two games in his match with Steve Crutchley (RE Stud) but then went on to win a close fifth 13 -11 to secure the set. He then won his other two for his maximum. Teammate Rob Webster also won his three.

The league table currently sees surprise packets G Ward “E” top of the table on 49 points from seven matches closely followed by Queen’s “B” with 46 points from six matches and just behind Hit2nHope on 41 points also from seven matches.
