Division Two of the Hinckley Table Tennis League looks to be a very tight Division this season, with a number of teams taking points off of each other. Currently G Ward D and Cat G appear to be the front runners. Cat G defeated newcomers Market Bosworth 2 by 10 sets to nil. They followed that victory with another win over by 7 sets to 3 over Mkt Bosworth 1. John Hames starring with three wins for Cat G.
Meanwhile G Ward D using the experienced Roger Hill playing alongside two of the youngsters from the Coaching scheme Callum Dale and Oliver Wynne won by 9 sets to 1 over Queen’s Barwell and then defeated their G Ward “C” team by 6 sets to 4. Hill picking up maximums in both matches, with Wynne winning five of his six sets. Bob Pickersgill winning two for G Ward C. Jack Dennis (GWD) just losing to Liam Davies (GWC) in a five set game 8-11.
Queen’s Barwell and Cat E fought out a close match which ended in a draw five sets each.
Another new team G Ward “F” provided the shock of the round by beating the highly fancied Hit’n’Hope team by 6 sets to 4. Two Barwell players were making their debuts both Tom Kelly and Connor Harris winning two games each.
Mkt Bosworth 1 found Cat H too strong losing by 3 sets to 7. John Veasey (Bos 1) did win his three however.
Hit’n’Hope took no prisoners as they had an easy win over Mkt Bosworth 2 by 20 sets to nil.
Queen’s Barwell overpowered Cat G by 8 sets to 2 and G Ward C defeated Cat E by 8 sets to 2 with both Bob Pickersgill and Chris Thomas winning three each for G Ward.
