Hinckley Juniors impress

In the recently held Leicester League Individual Championships there was more success for Hinckley based juniors from the Barlestone and Barwell George Ward Clubs.

In the junior boys’ event Barlestone’s Adam Pettitt was runner up to County number one Jack Rogers but Adam then went on to collect the Boys Intermediate event defeating his old rival Aman Rashid 11-7 in the fifth to list the crown He followed this up by also winning the senior

Handicap event, defeating, Barry Taylor (Hugglescote Rams) in the final.

In the Under 15 Boys event Jack Roger beat Abdul Shaihk both from Leicester but both the losing semi-finalists were from Barwell George Ward namely Jack Dennis and Matt Wynne.

In the Under 13 event Edward Brown (G Ward) took the title by beating Oscar Bentley. Ollie Wynne (G Ward) being one of the losing semi-finalists.

In the Under 11 event young George Moore (G Ward) who only joined the club recently and has only been playing a few months was also a losing semi-finalist.

In the Handicap Team Challenge round one matches there were some in close matches. Cat A who have come good in the second half of the season overcame a depleted G Ward B winning 5 sets to 4 to go through to the quarter finals. Both Danny Whittaker and Richard Chesters winning two each for G Ward.

G Ward E overcame Cat F by 7 sets to 2. Dave Richardson winning all his games for G Ward. Steve Burrage collecting the 2 for Cat F. Edward Brown and Callum Dale both G Ward winning their other matches.

G Ward A beat Nalgo in a very close match by 5 sets to 4 at Nalgo. Pete White (Nalgo) defeating Derek Thompson (GW) by 31 -30 in a very tight game. Mark Perkins (GW) overcame Steve Brough’s handicap to claim the victory in the final set finally winning 31-28pts.

Barlestone A had a comfortable win over Cat G by 9 sets to nil and Cat E went through against G Ward D.

Quarter Finals to be played w/c 3rd April.
