Foxdale’s Becky Bayley, who was competing in the North Hertfordshire Satellite Grand Prix, won the Ladies U’21 event beating Emily Godfrey, from Essex, three sets to one in the final. Becky had earlier lost to Godfrey in the Ladies Open event, so was pleased to avenge that defeat.

However, Becky reported that the highlight of her weekend occurred in the final match of the Women’s Open, as she beat the overall winner, Aurelie Bernadet from France, 18/16 in their fifth set. Becky commented that, Bernadet has represented France at national level, and is the current Scottish University’s ladies champion, so considered it to be her most significant victory to date.

Despite that wonderful win, Becky had to settle for second place in the open event because of her earlier loss to third placed Godfrey.
