League Report 4 January 17

STRATHY RISE TO THE TOP

Strathallan rise to the top of Division One of the Fun 88 sponsored Table Tennis League followed closely by Travellers and Copy Shop in second and third respectively.

Peel A cling on to top spot in Division Two with Tower B just one point behind with a game in hand. Copy Shop B climbed off the foot of the table leaving Peel B to fall into bottom place.

Travellers C and Surestrike Ramsey D start to accelerate away from the rest of their opposition in Division Three; both are top with 81 points.

Division One

Arbory (4) Copy Shop A (5)

Jason Quirk earned an excellent brace for Arbory by beating Paul Corran and Rebecca Bayley. Mike Tamarov

and Keeran Chan also picked up points against Bayley. Copy Shop brought it back with a hat-trick from Ronan McDonnell while Paul Corran secured the victory with two more wins.

There was a clean sweep for Travellers with Mark Johnson, Malcolm Cummings

and Liam Chan each notching up three points.

This white-wash for Strathallan propelled them to the top. Andy Patterson, Julian Briercliffe and Mason McLarney all secured hat-tricks.

Division Two

Peel A (2) Tower B (8)

Dave Parsons and Mike Bayley both landed important hat-tricks and also won the doubles. Matt Crabtree picked up the other point against Matty Evans. Peel retained top spot as Malc Lewis and Andy McLarney took a point apiece against Crabtree.

Surestrike Ramsey B (3)  Copy Shop B (7)

Copy Shop achieved an excellent win thanks to a hat-trick from Rob Sim, two from Kevin Drewry and a point from Freya Melvin. Copy Shop also took the doubles. In response Chris Holmes scooped two wins and Wendy Hogan secured one for Surestrike Ramsey.

Division Three

Travellers D (9) St Ninian’s A (1)

Travellers just missed out on a clean sweep with Maurice Campbell, Alan Harding and Adrian Tinkler all obtaining three points, but St Ninian’s had a last minute win in the doubles.

Tower C (5)  Copy Shop C (5)

Chris Aspden got Copy Shop off to a good start with a trio of wins followed by two from Zac Walker. Barry Jenkins started the come back with a brace, Margaret Forsyth and Mike Chapman both purloined a point followed by Jenkins and Forsyth snatching a draw by winning the doubles.

Surestrike Ramsey D (0)  Surestrike Ramsey X (10)

The X team battered their club rivals with hat-tricks from Sally Green, Tyler Hannay and Dave Bufton. Hannay and Bufton also prevailed in the doubles.

Division Four

Copy Shop D (7) Surestrike Ramsay E (3)

Kitty Thomas maintained a high win percentage by securing three points. Her Copy Shop team-mate Libby Quaggin added two more. Sophie Sheard claimed the winning point and she and Quaggin also won the doubles. Lily Byrne and Stuart Watson both did well to beat Sheard.

Copy Shop E (8) Peel C (2)

Neil Dudley started the fixture by gaining three points. His sons, Cameron and Josh, both added braces to the tally and went on to win the doubles. Tiernan Garvey earned a consolation brace for Peel.

IOM JD 2 (5) IOM JD 1 (5)

Oliver Ashe obtained three points for IOM JD 2 before Lauren Allwright increased their total to five. IOM JD 1 fought back with William Shooter claiming two wins, Sam Preece and Jake Levine got one each before the deciding doubles which Shooter and Preece took claim a well deserved draw.

IOM JD North (2) St Ninian’s B (8)

Luke Hegarty and Archie Walter collected six points between them with hat-tricks and the doubles. Thomas Coleman collected their final point. Glenn Callow and William Dalugdugan both dug-in to win against Coleman.
