PEEL C PUSH ON FOR PROMOTION

Travellers A beat Copy Shop A 5/4 to slightly increase their lead at the top of Division One in the Fun 88-sponsored IOM Table Tennis League.

Tower B have almost caught up with Peel A at the top of Division Two. Tower are just three points adrift with a game in hand. Travellers B and Surestrike Ramsey B are also in the mix.

Travellers C continue their unbeaten run in Division Three with a record of nine wins and four draws. Peel C sit ten points clear at the top of Division Four as they push on for promotion this season.

Sean Drewry’s impressive unbeaten run has finally come to an end after Liam Chan took a point off him in straight sets. However he won his other two matches against Mark Johnson and Malcolm Cummings. Paul Corran also collected two points and was unfortunate not to get the third, losing 11/8 in the fifth against Chan. Along with Liam Chan’s hat-trick Cummings and Johnson both picked up a point off Adam Davies to edge the fixture.

Jason Quirk earned a hat-trick for Arbory followed with a brace from Khayee Vinas

Adam Teare fought back to earn a point for Surestrike before Juan Moore came from two sets down to beat Chan in the fifth, he also took a point off Vinas.

Division Two

Peel A (7)  Travellers C (3)

Maggie Mulhern, Malcolm Lewis and Matty Evans obtained two points each. Lewis and Mulhern also gained a point in the doubles. Paul Mathieson-Nelson earned three points for Travellers.

Dave Parsons and Mike Bayley both bagged hat-tricks before Parsons and Matt Crabtree picked up the doubles.

Rob Sim, Freya Melvin and Ibim Davies all notched up a consolation point against Crabtree.

Division Three

Travellers D (7)  Tower C (3)

Alan Harding kicked Travellers off with a hat-trick followed by another from Maurice Campbell before Adrian Tinkler added a point to the collection. Mike Chapman and Barry Jenkins both notched up a consolation point and the pair combined to take the doubles which finished 12/14 in the fifth set.

Surestrike Ramsey C (2)  Copy Shop C (8)

Zac Walker and Malcolm Lambert both earned a full house followed by a point from Chris Aspden, who joined Lambert to win in the doubles. Fraser Dametto and Wendy Hogan collected the consolation points for Surestrike.

St Ninian’s A (2) Surestrike Ramsey X (8)

New signing Daryl Yardley and Sally Green equally shared four points with three added by Dave Bufton, he and Yardley also prevailed in the doubles. Ken Hegarty gathered two for the Saints.

Division Four

Peel C (10)  Surestrike Ramsey E (0)

A clean sweep for Peel as Tiernan Garvey, Louis Faragher and Callan Reed all secured hat-tricks, although Reed earned his last win 11/9 in the fifth set against  Stuart Watson. Reed and Faragher cleaned up with a win in the doubles.

IOM JD North (3)  Copy Shop E (7)

A good result for IOM JD North who took  three points off title contenders Copy Shop. Glenn Callow picked up two followed by a third from William Dalugdugan. Copy Shop’s Josh Dudley also gained a point followed by a brace from Leo Doyle and a hard fought hat-trick from Cameron Dudley, who was taken to five sets in two of his three games, one finishing 11/8 in his favour.

IOM JD 1 (1)  Copy Shop D (9)

Hat-tricks from Libby Quaggin and Kitty Thomas plus two from Pat Halliwell and also a win in the doubles from Thomas and Halliwell saw Copy Shop take the majority of the points. William Shooter prevented a whitewash by beating Pat Halliwell 11/8 in the fifth set.

St Ninian’s B (3) IOM JD 2 (6)

A no show from each team gifted each team one point. Oliver Ashe won his two remaining matches for JD. Lauren Allwright claimed another one and the pair also secured the doubles. Luke Hegarty bagged a consolation point for St Ninian’s.
