Senior and Junior Top Twelve Tournaments

'Drewry and Callow take Top 12 Table Tennis titles'


The Senior and Junior Top 12 Table Tennis events took place on Sunday 13th February. There was plenty of exciting action to be seen in both tournaments 


Barry Callister Memorial Seniors Top 12 Tournament 
Finishing Rankings with starting rankings in brackets:

The first round was played in 2 groups of 6 players. Only 4 matches went against the rankings with John Magnall beating Scott Lewis, 9/11 in the 5th end. John Shooter beat Liam Chan in straight sets, Tim Baker beat Malcolm Cummings in four sets, and Sean Drewry beat Duncan Alexander in straight sets. Group A finished as follows:

Group B

The bottom 2 in each group played for positions 9-12, while the middle 2 players from each group played for positions 5-8. The top 2 in each group played each other, with Chris Holland beating John Magnall to reach the final and Sean Drewry beat Scott Lewis in the other semi. The final between Chris and Sean was a straight sets win for Sean 11/9 11/6 11/8. 

Malcolm Looker Memorial Junior Top 12 Tournament

This was played in the same format as the Senior Top 12. All matches with the exception of one went with the seedings in the group stage. William Dalugdugan was beaten by Glenn Callow 11/5 11/9 5/11 12/14 3/11

The top 2 in each group played for the title. William Shooter lost to William Dalugdugan 11/8 11/5 6/11 8/ 11 6/11, and had to play for 3rd place which he took by beating Ronan Thompson 8/11 11/7 11/4 11/7. Glenn Callow having beaten Ronan Thompson 7/11 11/7 11/4 11/8 in the semi final, joined William
Dalugdugan in the final and went on to win and retain his title 11/8 11/9 11/7.
