World Championships 1st to 4th May

Subject: World Championships on Eurosport

Dear Table Tennis Fan,

We are pleased to be able to advise you that the QOROS World Individual Table Tennis Championships from Suzhou will be shown on Eurosport after all.  We were disappointed to note from the ITTF listings that the UK was not included in the coverage and this was confirmed by the checks that we made with the Eurosport schedules.  However, we have now been informed that there will be coverage from the World Championships as follows:

Friday 1st May – Eurosport 2 – 08:00 – Last 16 (150 mins)

Saturday 2nd May – Eurosport 1 – 23:45 – Quarter Finals (75mins)

Sunday 3rd May – Eurosport 2 – 07:00 – Semi Finals (120mins)

Monday 4 th May – Eurosport 1 – 07:45 – Finals (75mins)

In addition to the coverage which is being shown on Eurosport it is also possible to cover more of the championships from the ITTFs website on the itTV as per the following link - http://www.ittf.com/ittv/

The good news today is that Liam Pitchford has reached the last 32 of the Men’s Singles after beating Kalin Kreanga, the famous Greek player by 4-2 in the first round, and then the World No.20  Tiago Apolonia of Portugal by 4-2 which was a great performance by Liam.  Tomorrow he will meet the Worlds best defender Joo Se Hyuk of Korea the World No.17.  Joo reached the final of the World Championships in 2003 before losing to the Austrian player, Werner Schlager.  At the time of writing this newsletter, the ITTF have not issued the time of the match but this can be checked by visiting the ITTF website.

Further information can be obtained from both the ITTF and Table Tennis England websites.

Best wishes,

Mike Marsden

Tees Sport Manager.
