Dallam A go top of Division 2

Dallam A, no doubt eyeing a swift return to the top division, thrashed Crook B 10-0 to go top of Division 2 of the Kendal & District Table Tennis League. The Dallam trio of Matthew Neal, John Fitzgerald and Phil Hyman demolished their South Lakes opponents in ruthless fashion on the notoriously slow Dallam table. Burton D held on to second spot following an extremely hard fought 5-5 draw against a very strong Natland D team. Martin Wakelin and Tony March won 2 singles apiece and then combined to take the doubles and tie the match at 5-5. Mick Taylor and Tamas Basci each won 2 singles matches for Natland. Highlight of the night was the battle between the two number 1s, with Martin Wakelin eventually overcoming Tamas Basci 6-11, 11-4, 2-11, 13-11, 13-11 in a nail biting encounter. A hat-trick of wins for James Burton could not prevent Burton C from going down 6-4 to a Dallam B team for whom Mike Jackson and Stephen Gosling won 2 singles matches each and Stuart Allan one. Jackson and Gosling then won the deciding doubles in a 5 set thriller against Burton and Simon Gregory.

The second coaching day, organised by the Kendal League and run by Graham Coupe, Head Coach at the Garstang Regional Table Tennis Centre, will take place at the Natland Table Tennis Club on Sunday, October 30th. Anyone who has yet to sign up should contact Roger Pimblett on 07703 554425.
