Allan's final coaching session

JANUARY 16 2012 - Today Allan Bruton gave his final coaching session at Kingfisher.  Allan has been coaching in Reading and Bracknell for the last 28 years.  In 2009 he was recognised by the ETTA with the Junior Coach of The Year award and, over the years, he has been been responsible for introducing the sport to hundreds of young players.  Allan's last coaching class was interrupted for a short presentation by Kingfisher President, Peter Charters, during which the eighteen juniors present, their parents and Kingfisher committee members applauded Allan for his dedication, enthusiasm and hard work.  Although now retired from coaching at the club, Allan still remains very active as a player and as a volunteer within Kingfisher and with the Bracknell and Berkshire Association committees.

Response from Allan

18th January 2012

To all students, parents and to the Kingfisher committee.

I was frankly overwhelmed by the thanks, gratitude and gifts that I received after my final coaching session on Monday 16th January, which were very much appreciated, so much so that I felt that I needed to actually thank you all and to let everyone know that this has not been an easy decision to make and that it is no reflection on anyone that I have been working with, just a set of circumstances which just happened to help bring about my decision.

As a volunteer within my sport I have never participated to obtain acclaim or accolades ,although I was lucky enough to be awarded a coach of the year award in 2009, but to put back a little into the sport that has given me so much enjoyment over the years.

That I have been able to help and inspire some young people and in fact some not so young people, is all that I could have hoped to achieve.

I shall still be around, I have other volunteer jobs that I shall still continue to do and I am still at the end of the phone or email if I can offer any advice or help in the future.

I can for now, only say thanks for your thanks

Allan Bruton
