LOCAL JUNIORS QUALIFY FOR BUTTERFLY SCHOOLS INDIVIDUAL TABLE TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Toby and Bethany Ellis have qualified for the annual Butterfly Schools Individual Finals after becoming Lancashire County Champions again for the second sucessive year. Toby qualified in boys U13 and Bethany in the girls U11. Genevieve Holchaks, Joseph Dennison and Matthew Westworth have also qualified to represent the County from the Lancaster and Morecambe area.

This event is the largest one day event in the table tennis calendar in England with over 350 players representing 50 counties gathering at Aldersley Leisure Village, Wolverhampton on Saturday April  21st  2018 for the staging of the finals of the Butterfly Schools’ National Individual Table Tennis Championships.  Competitions are held at Under 11, 13, 16 and 19 levels for both boys and girls.  All schools, primary and secondary are eligible to enter players in the county rounds in order to qualify for these national finals.

 Following these championships, the English Schools’ Table Tennis Committee will select representative teams to play in the Invitation International to be held in June 2018 with teams from England, Guernsey, Ireland, the Isle of Man, Scotland, and Wales all competing.
